Cecilia Calvo advises partners and clients – Fortune 500 businesses, governments and international and local nonprofits – on a range of issues affecting their philanthropic investments. She has led development efforts on both sides of the Atlantic. In the United States, she has served as the executive director of nonprofits, advised their boards and managed a portfolio of federal agency grantees during the first years of the AmeriCorps program. In the United Kingdom, she ran the development operation for the Commonwealth Education Fund, a public-private education partnership led by the Honorable Gordon Brown, backed by Save the Children UK, ActionAid and Oxfam. She has championed her clients at the White House, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace.
Ms. Calvo served in senior positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and at the Corporation for National and Community Service as a political appointee in the Clinton administration. A Washingtonian, Cecilia attended National Cathedral School for Girls, received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Duke University and her masters degrees in education and in theology from Harvard University. After living in London for several years, she resides in Washington with her husband and two children.
